SCEC researchers are comparing the differences between Chino Hills simulations using 1D methods, based on the Broadband Platform, and 3D methods, based on Hercules-GPU software.

BBP Chino Hills Evaluation Methods

SCEC BBP researchers use the Chino Hills earthquake as a validation event. They have defined a 1D velocity model for the region, selected a consensus fault geometry and earthquake magnitude, and selected a set of ground motion observations for use in comparisons to synthetics.
